Hawaii is a place where you’re touched everyday by the Earth’s beauty. Here are snap shots of Earth From Hawaii.
In response to WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge: One Love
Universal love or one love is a simple concept for me – love for our home, this earth and the creatures in it, who we’re stewards of, and love for our fellow human beings. Caring for this earth would mean doing things to reduce our carbon footprint, not depriving animals, plants and indigenous people of their land and natural resources and so on. And most importantly, treating everyone like we’d like to be treated. We live self-centered lives where time is a premium; and in the continuous fast spinning cogwheel of life, we tend to forget these two important things unless we make a conscious effort. We’re all connected, so if we made an effort to leave the planet a better place than when we found it and were kind to our fellow humans, this world would be a happier place.
I’d like to sum up with a quote by Chief Seattle “Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.
The image of these high school kids reminded me of another time in my book when life was carefree and fun. As I stood at a distance and took in the beautiful scenery and lovely vibe, I was transported back and for a few brief moments re-lived that time once more.
Once in a while such moments pop up from the past and ring a bell to a distant memory… But only rarely do I have the opportunity to capture those moments with my camera and this was one of them.
The picture on top is of Cat Table sculptural piece in wood at the Hawaii State Art Museum, sorry cat people – that the cats are holding up a dog:)…I only took the photo.
And the picture on the bottom is of my friend’s cat Mud in repose on top of a glass-top table creating a perfect photo opportunity for me… Both pictures were taken years apart, so it was interesting to find these two photos in my archives that are connected through Cats & Tables…although in each picture the cat/s have a different role in relationship to the table.
Down by the pier, in the still of the evening
the birds sing their lovely songs and
the fish glide below the glassy surface.
I gather my muddled thoughts & lay them
In a neat row like the boats at my Happy Place.
In response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: “Muse.”
Ciate our cat always stays in the background while the two dogs steal all the attention. She has her moods and a personality. She’s quiet (but lets you know if she needs something…like when her water bowl runs low), loves fresh water, is best friends with the younger of our two dogs, loves the hour before dawn, loves boxes, paper bags, secret hiding places and sunbathing, is not a big fan of toys but finds ways to entertain herself, and doesn’t mind modeling for us or being my muse…
