Opposite Day, Opposite Life

Do you remember as a kid having “Opposite Day”? Or maybe as a kid, do you remember making it an Opposite Day or opposite position? Have you ever felt in life now as an adult, certain situations or days or life for that matter, that it is opposite for you? More of an explanation, have you ever felt that you should’ve done the exact opposite of what you did or should’ve done?

I think we have all felt like that more than once in life. How do you combat that? How do you keep from feeling that way again?

There are certain things in life that are uncontrollable. There are certain things in life that you think you are making the right decision about, but find out later that you made the complete wrong choice or decision. Hopefully, if you are faced with that same decision again, that you will make the correct decision next time. Does that mean, make the opposite decision you did the last time, or reset your brain to process the information all over again and remake the decision? Or have any of you felt that no matter what decision you make, it’s always the wrong decision? Maybe you should just always make the opposite decision you were going to make and that would be the right decision. Or would that decision then be wrong? What a conundrum!

Maybe all of you aren’t “betters” out there, but this is the best comparison I can make. Ever play Blackjack before? Ever hit on 16 and bust? And then told yourself you would never make that decision again. And thenthr next time you you got 16 and stood. Did you bust or did you win the hand? Each time is different and you pretty much feel that you usually make the wrong decision? Well, that’s how Las Vegas was built.

But how about life? Ever have the same situation and feeling about life. Feel like you made the wrong decision the first time and then the next time that exact or similar situation comes up, you make a totally different decision. Sometimes, it turns out to be the right choice to change your mind and other times, you lose either way and feel “damned if I do and dames if I don’t”.

The point of this is to get you thinking. I would love to hear your personal thoughts on this and see what you think. Happy thinking…

You Get What You Pay For…

Have you ever heard of this term? It’s usually a business term, but it also applies to relationships and life in general.

There are certain things in life that are worth waiting for or “paying” for. Another term that applies to this is quality over quantity. Now, there are certain aspects of life that quantity over quality are presumed “better”, but rarely.

Most people have to choose in life or even daily, if they want quantity over quality. Some choose one way, some choose the alternative. And even in life, you might have to make this decision daily or multiple times daily, but always ask yourself, which is a better choice for you…quantity or quality…

Earth, Wind & Fire Concert

Great concert! Great band! AMAZING SINGING! Short, but great!

I could’ve used a few more songs and an intermission. Speaking of which…where have the intermissions gone from concerts??? The last 5 major concerts I went to, they were under 2 hours and absolutely no intermission!

Look, if you are going to charge $60, $70, $80, $90 or all the way up to $200, you better have a MUCH LONGER concert than 90 minutes! Also, there better be an intermission for food and drinks (alcohol) if you are charging that much…oh and bathroom breaks for our ladies out there!

Great bands, great music, not too bad prices (if the concert is actually 2 plus hours. Those concessions must be pissed though with jo intermissions. I mean how much can you actually sell 10-15 minutes before the concert??? 70% of all concession sales are at intermission.

The bottom line is that there are a lot of great concerts out there, but in my opinion, they better be AT LEAST 2 1/2-3 hours if they are going to charge those outrageous ticket prices!

I will tell you I loved watching and listening to them. They bring back a lot of great old memories from my life along with my family. I had a blast, but I just wish it would’ve lasted longer…

What’s your thoughts???

Spectacles By Snap

Last Friday, Snap (Snapchat) introduced their camera-equipped sun glasses. Snap’s Spectacles will allow you to take photos and shoot 10s videos of life as you see it. Does it seem all too familiar? Hmmm… remember Google Glass, which was a major flop as it never caught on with the masses.

Spectacles

Spectacles is priced at $129.99 and Google Glass was $1500. You also had to pre-qualify to be able to purchase the glasses by writing a micro essay. So basically, you had to jump thru’ hoops to make a $1500 purchase! Anyway, turns out that the only people that found Google Glass cool were die-hard techies.

The good thing about being second in a field that’s new is, you learn from other people’s mistakes. Google Glass was a more complicated device, something I’d imagine undercover operatives like James Bond would use:)! But Spectacles are for the Snapchat or Snap-loving masses. They are simple and fun, an extension of what Snap is about. Their goal is to help you create memories as you see them.

Spectacles 2

The company says Snap’s Spectacles will be available for purchase soon. Let us know what you think, would you purchase a pair, do you think it would add a dose of fun to your life?

That’s as straightforward as it can be…Hiring is hard.

Does all the good qualified people have jobs? Why are we left with the left-overs? Is anyone dependable, trustworthy or hardworking anymore? Where have all the good people gone???

We run MANY very successful businesses underneath The Ultimate Fundraiser. And believe it or not, the business part is easy, BUT trying to hire realiablevand capable people is by far the hardest thing we have ever done!

We pay well. We treat our employees with great respect. We take care of and protect our own. Overall, we treat people great! Then why is it so damn hard to find anyone to work and do it properly?

These are just some thoughts of ours. Do you own a business and have this problem. Or are you a manager that has this problem? PLEASE share your stories with us and tell us about your hiring woes…
