Does it matter to your success whether you’re an introvert or extrovert? No, I don’t think success cares. It just rewards the hard workers amongst us, the daring ones, the ones that are willing to fight our fears and forge ahead despite the fear of failure and all the other fears that hold us back.
Yes, extroverts do have the advantage of their mostly great personalities when it comes to dealing with people – making that sales call, being good at working the room at a networking meeting. But there are things that they have to learn too, and perhaps be more like an introvert – like learning when to shut up and let the other person talk, that you have to also be a good listener to be a good conversationalist.
Although there are some professions where it’s not necessary to give up your introversion, which are jobs that require you to work in isolation, there’s one area where introverts have to learn to be more of an extrovert – when you have your own business/are a business owner. This is necessary extroversion that is required to interact with your clients and others in business dealings. And this type of extroversion is a behavior that can be easily learned. Most of us realize this on our own at some point in our lives and adapt some extrovert ways in order to get closer to our dreams. One of the secrets of interacting with other people, is to remember that people love to talk about themselves, so get curious and ask them questions. This will also keep the attention off of you and make you feel more comfortable.
If you study the most successful people you will find that there are successful people amongst both extroverts and introverts, at the end of the day, it was their grit, determination, hard work and sacrifice that took them where they are today. So, don’t worry, especially if you’re an introvert, it is more than likely that you’re the one that has this worry. Just keep your eyes on your goal and do everything and more you have to that will bring you closer to your goals. So it does not matter to your success whether you’re an extrovert or an introvert, NO, it just matters how you apply yourself and how hard you work. And whether you’re an extrovert or extrovert, there are times you have to adapt to the style of the other.
