According to the Hawaii Department Of Education website, a Oahu school, Robert Louis Stevenson Middle School, just had a dedication of its new Science & Technology Center. The two-story facility will provide the latest in teaching tools for Stevenson Middle’s sixth, seventh and eighth graders and it has three labs for Physics, Biology and Earth & Space science classes. The facility also has STEM labs, which can be converted into one large room with an observation deck for special events and competitions. Each lab is named after a groundbreaking scientist, including physicist Albert Einstein and biologist and botanist Carl Linnaeus.
“We are so excited for the exploration and discovery that our students will experience learning about science in this cutting-edge facility,” said Superintendent Kathryn Matayoshi. “Following Next Generation Science Standards, our students will be able to delve into course material deeper than ever before and develop a strong foundation of scientific understanding.”
“We are thrilled to dedicate our new Science & Technology Center to kick off the school year and we cannot wait to see the excitement in our students on August 1st,” said Principal Linell Dilwith. Construction of the new 20,684 square-foot facility took three years to complete at an approximate cost of $11 million.
