Atlantic Philanthropies announced two grants totaling $197 million in support of efforts to empower innovative leaders with the resources necessary to address inequality and enhance opportunity in their own communities and globally.
A grant of $91 million over a period of twenty years will be given to the London School of Economics and Political Science to establish an Atlantic Fellows program at LSE’s International Inequalities Institute to address the most critical global challenges, the program will support researchers, teachers, health professionals, activists, scholars, entrepreneurs, artists, writers, government officials, and others working to improve health, equity, and opportunity.
A second grant of $106 million (£75 million) over fifteen years will establish the Atlantic Institute at Oxford University to serve as a knowledge-sharing hub for Atlantic Fellows. The institute will foster collaboration among the fellows to maximize their impact locally and globally and provide support to fellows and alumni throughout their careers.
Atlantic Philanthropies plans to announce additional Atlantic Fellows programs in a network of programs and institutions representing a $600 million in investment over two decades — the largest in their thirty-five-year history.
