Open Enrollment for getting your health insurance for 2016 is on right now, that is if you’re uninsured. The Health Insurance Marketplace at HealthCare.gov is where you can enroll in a health insurance plan if you can’t get coverage through your employer, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP or other sources. Each year, there is a specific period of time called Open Enrollment – this is when you can enroll or re-enroll in a Marketplace health insurance plan. You may qualify for lower costs on health insurance coverage based on how many people live in your home and how much money is earned.
Health Insurance plans in the Marketplace provide coverage for:
- Essential health benefits.
- Pre-existing conditions.
- Preventive care.
Open enrollment or the time period within which you can enroll to get health insurance next year is November 1, 2015 – January 31, 2016. Enroll now to get health insurance for 2016. You may have to pay a penalty if you don’t enroll in a health insurance plan by January 31, 2016. The penalty increases each year.
