To encourage high school graduates to further their education First Lady Michelle Obama announced two video contests as part of the #ReachHigher Initiative. The prize is Michelle Obama coming to your school to share her knowledge about higher education. These contests are open to both high school and college students.

Reach Higher

The two contests that are a part of this initiative are:

A. For the first contest high school students and staff have to make a video that encourages students to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

B. The second contest is the Near-Peer Mentoring College Challenge which encourages student groups and college staff to submit a video that shows college immersion and peer-mentoring programs available on campuses for incoming students, especially for those students from underprivileged communities.

Contestants have to upload their entries to Vimeo or YouTube.

“The Reach Higher initiative supports President Obama’s “North Star” goal to make America have the world’s highest proportion of college graduates by 2020. The First Lady will speak at the contest winners’ commencement ceremonies in the spring of 2015.”
